The New Grade 9 Science Curriculum
The Grade 9 Science Curriculum has been completely redesigned to better prepare students for post-secondary studies and to follow up on the new curriculum implemented in grades 7 and 8.
The new course is composed of Four units covering each of the major science disciplines.

Unit 1 - Space Exploration (Earth Systems)
In this unit, students will learn about space exploration and the firsts steps we've taken into outer space.
This should be a very interesting unit with plenty of discussion.

Unit 2 - Atoms, Elements, and Compounds (Chemistry)
In this unit, students will be studying basic chemistry. They will start out by learning about the most basic units of matter: atoms and molecules. We will study the nature of atoms and learn about the fundamental rules of atoms and how the interact with other atoms.
Later, students will be introduced to the Periodic Table and the many elements that make up our universe. We will study patterns in the Periodic Table to help us understand how some elements are similar and how others are different.
Finally, we will study the interaction between atoms and the formation of molecules.

Unit 3 - Characteristics of Electricity (Physics)
In this unit, students will be learning the basic properties and characteristics of electricity. This is an important topic in physics and can be of great importance in many future studies and careers.
Unit 4 - Reproduction (Biology)
In this unit, students will be studying reproduction. In order to understand the full scope of the reproduction process, we begin with cellular reproduction, how our very basic building blocks reproduce themselves.
This leads into asexual and sexual reproduction and then finally, an introduction to human reproduction.
